We cut mirrors to your size in silvered, tinted and antique mirror glass, 4 mm or 6 mm thick, with polished or bevelled edges. Mirrors are not toughened. Any screw holes are drilled at the cutting stage, so decide how the mirror will be fixed before you order. The configurator shows the live price as you choose.
What types of mirror can I order?
- Silvered mirror, the everyday clear mirror.
- Tint mirrors: grey, bronze, blue and green.
- Antique mirrors: silvered, bronze, grey tint, Venetian and Griseo.
Not every mirror comes in both thicknesses. The configurator only offers the thicknesses each mirror is available in. If you want to see a finish before you order, ask us about samples.
Should I choose 4 mm or 6 mm?
Our glass thickness tool suggests 4 mm silvered mirror for bathroom and wardrobe mirrors up to about a metre on the longest edge, and 6 mm for larger or frameless mirrors. A thicker mirror stays flatter over a wide face, so the reflection does not distort. This is the tool's suggestion, not a rule. For a large or unusual piece, ask us.
Which edges and shapes can I have?
Mirrors come with polished edges as standard, or a bevelled edge. Mirrors and table tops are the only pieces we bevel. Our guide to edge finishes explains the difference.
As well as rectangles, the configurator offers one shape for mirrors: Rake, one sloping side with the other corners kept square, which our team prices by hand. For two sloping sides or any other outline, choose "Send us a template or CAD drawing instead" under Rake and upload a paper template or a CAD drawing; that is priced by hand too.
Is a mirror toughened?
No. We do not toughen mirrors. Our guide to toughened, laminated and annealed glass explains the types of glass.
Can I have holes in a mirror?
Yes. Screw holes, a polished edge and a bevel are all done at the cutting stage. A finished mirror cannot be drilled afterwards without cracking it or lifting the silvering, so once it is made a new hole means a new mirror. The mirror configurator offers holes but not cut-outs. Our guide to holes, notches and cut-outs shows how to give the positions.
Decide how you will fix the mirror, screws and caps, adhesive or a hanging system, before you order. Our guide to fixing a mirror compares them.
What size mirror should go over my basin?
Our mirror size tool uses a workshop rule of thumb, not a standard:
- about the width of the basin or vanity, stopping 50 mm short on each side
- starting about 150 mm above the basin or the tap, so splashes do not sit on the silvering
- stopping 100 mm below the ceiling or a light fitting
It rounds sizes down to the nearest 10 mm and prints the arithmetic, so you can check it.
How do I measure for a mirror?
Our guide to measuring for a mirror has every step. In short:
Step 1: Mark the space on the wall
Put masking tape at the four edges of where the mirror will go, and measure inside the tape.
Step 2: Measure three widths and two heights
Measure the width at the top, middle and bottom, and the height at both sides. Keep all readings. Confirm the clearance and support arrangement before converting an opening into a finished mirror size.
Step 3: Note what is in the way
Measure any light, socket or cabinet from the same two edges, and say whether the mirror should clear it or be cut around it.
Step 4: Check the route into the room
A large mirror is rigid and does not bend. Measure the narrowest point between the front door and the wall.
How heavy will my mirror be?
Every millimetre of thickness weighs 2.5 kg per square metre. A 600 × 900 mm mirror is 0.54 square metres, so in 4 mm it weighs about 0.54 × 10 = 5.4 kg. A 1000 × 1200 mm mirror is 1.2 square metres, so in 6 mm it weighs about 1.2 × 15 = 18 kg. The glass weight calculator works it out for your size.
A weight is not a safe lifting limit. Whoever moves the mirror should assess the task, the load, the route and the person, as the HSE manual handling guidance explains.
Confirm the project requirements with the relevant specialist and follow the product instructions.

Questions we get asked
Can you drill my mirror after it arrives?
No. Holes are drilled at the cutting stage. A finished mirror cannot be drilled without cracking it or lifting the silvering, so add the holes when you order.
Do you toughen mirrors?
No. Our mirrors are not toughened.
Can I have a bevelled mirror?
Yes. Mirrors can have polished or bevelled edges.
Can you fit the mirror for me?
You can enquire about a fitter through our fitters page. Our guide to finding a fitter explains how it works.
